"Would not recommend and will ensure I share my story with others. Originally I had auto/home insurance but had to move my auto insurance because my rate kept jumping up every month without explanation. Yesterday (7/19/24) I received a call from a representative at Stingley that my policy will not be renewed because I (2) claims on file. That was the only explanation given. But they made sure to state, "We would be happy to look at quote in 6 months-1 year." Both issues were out of our control and nothing we prepared for. What is the point of having insurance if your penalized for using it. Between the issues with our auto insurance rate and our home owners policy being dropped for a ridiculous reason, I wanted to pass along my warning to the next customer looking for coverage."
"Nick, we're sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate your feedback. We understand your frustration regarding the changes to your policies and the explanation provided. Please know that we take your concerns seriously and are committed to addressing them. A couple of things I want to point out is you are reviewing our Agency here, and not State Farm. Regarding the auto insurance, State Farm sets the rates. Yes, they have gone up in this environment. It just costs more today to fix vehicles. Bumpers can now cost $4000. 10 years ago it was $400. There is a lot more distracted driving than there was even two years ago. And litigation is up as families feel the pinch from inflation. We do our best to notify you that rates are changing and how you can manage them. As far as the non renewal on the home, again, that is a call out of our control. We try to help people make the best use of their homeowners’ policy. But this again is an environment in the industry that I have not seen in my 12 years of doing this. There ae carriers in IL who are pulling out of the homeowner market, there are carriers that have stopped writing new business. State Farm has not done that, but they are making moves to protect the policy holder as a whole. There are some things consumers can do to help get through this current insurance market: Consider Higher Deductibles – this can help save money on your policy. Drive Safe & Save Program – this feature helps you save through safe driving habits. Discount/Coverage Reviews – Make sure you are getting every discount you’re entitled to, know what you are covered for, and keep in close communication with our office. DO NOT let your policy cancel or lapse *for any reason*. Carriers are not reinstating coverage as easily as they once did. A new application may be required if you let it go too long. Bundle all lines of insurance for more discounts and more stable pricing. Bundled policies almost always include better coverage and benefits, due to more common reviews, and household drops are less likely with the more lines of business that you carry with one company. Consider Tenure – jumping companies too often will hurt you in the long run. In addition, some carriers won’t take you in as a new client if you have less than two years with a carrier. And carriers are getting out of risks if a claim happens in the new business term or for the number of claims in a 3–5-year window. Tenure matters with a carrier. Follow Driving Laws – tickets potentially add rate to your policy and stay on your record 3-5 years, depending on the carrier. Absorb small claims when you’re able and save coverage for catastrophic losses. Talk with our office and let us claims counsel you should a loss happen. Frequency of claims REALLY matters. Lastly, remember that we are agents for the carriers. We don’t make the rules, we don’t have control over the rates, and we don’t make the decision if your policy is cancelled by the carriers. We are here to help educate, make sure you have the best insurance for your situation, manager your account, and claims counsel when needed. Thanks for the feedback Nick. "Doesn’t help out much. Raises my car insurance every single month due to “inflation” it is almost $20 extra every month. Also don’t get into a car accident if you go with TJ because I promise you they won’t help you at all, and will charge you for everything even if claims said you won’t be charged. They will never give you a straight answer on why insurance keeps going up and they don’t even know how to use their own drive safe and save app. I’m very dissatisfied with the customer service too."
